It is har d to believe that the big event is now only 24 days away. Where has 2008 gone? I feel like I have just gone to bed on the 1st January and woke up on 1st December and realised that 2008 has almost had it!
The kids are hyper and think that just because it is on their list then they will get it! I have tried to explain that Santa has so many boys and girls to visit on his once a year world tour that they may not get everything that they have asked for. Their reply is that they have only asked for three things. This is true but two of them are similar to what they already have and J also asked his Gran for one of the items (which she has beaten Santa to - so I hope he pays attention). I think he was hedging his bets!! LOL
I have also landed myself the task of creating a feast for the out-laws. Why? Gawd only knows! It will be ok - I make a mean roast chicken, a turkey by any other name apart from the size of it's breasts. So surely I cannot cock that up.
My propossed menu is as follows
Starter - smoked salmon and cream cheese spirals (I will give them a go myself)
Soup - my homemade veg special with homemade rolls
Main
Roast turkey
Chipolatas - stuffing
braised red cabbage
roasted potatoes/sweet potatoes/ parsnips
Brussel sprouts - cause it's Christmas
Carrots
Sweet - Key lime pie (made by moi)
Dumpling (made my MIL)
Trifle (suitable for my daughter so no dairy, wheat or eggs)
cheese board and homemade shortbread to follow
It is subject to change. But it is a little nerve racking as I will be catering for 11 or 12 people. As long as I keep the vino flowing all will be well.
