A Day of Firsts

To say there were few dry eyes yesterday is a little bit of an understatement. J started school and L started nursery. I was more than a little emotional when J put on his new uniform in the morning. Man how a kid ages just with the clothes they have on!
He was understandably shy when we arrived at school but there were plenty of children that he already knew but that doesn't stop the wee soul feeling strange.
L on the otherhand couldn't get to nursery quick enough. We only had to stay long enough to fill in the necessary paperwork and he was happy for us to leave him there. At the nursery they normally stagger start the new ones which means thay only go two days the first week and for no more than one and a half hours. Well, he got on so well taht I was told that he will be there from the normal time today!!
The downside is that I now have numerous trips to school daily, be it dropping off, collecting etc. The nursery and school times don't really work in either so I have to be organised with picnics everyday so that the kids can have lunch between collecting J at 12.10 and dropping L off at 12.45. We only stay a 5 minute walk away but with kids puddling around there is no danger that we would manage lunch etc in the allotted time frame. It is thankfully only for 3 weeks, after that J is all day at school and will either have school meals or a packed lunch depending on the menu offerings!
Right, better go and get a wriggle on (and another coffee - 6.30 starts take their toll on me!).
