Yes, you read right! I haven't misspelt the title of this post! It did say "CROCKPOT" and not CRACKPOT - as I feel from time to time.
I am trialing a cxrockpot cooker I have aquired - that makes it sound a little illegal, doesn't it? I can assure you that this crockpot was gained through fully ligitimate channels. Infact it is from my MIL, who got it from a friend who got it from her mother who was done using it. I think it might revolutionise my kitchen life. I figure if I through things in there at breakfast time I then have the rest of the day to do what I do best... faff around, filling my day with kids, crafts and the internet, oh and some housewifey stuff (although that is kept to a minimum). ... that way all I will have to do nearer teatime is prpare the veg and whatever carb we are going to have along with the crockpot creation.
I must say though I was confused for awhile. We call these culinary gadgets "slow cookers" and everywhere else seems to lable them "crockpots". This threw me for a bit when I was looking for recipies as my internet searches didn't give me many recipies for slow cookers more where to buy one. Once I sussed the name differences I was laughing. I now have crockpot recipie sites coming out of my @ss!
I am quietly hopefull that this little beef and mushroom stew I am working on will be a triumph, that way I will be able to justify the space it takes up on my kitchen counter to DH (he moans continually about clutter - the bread maker and smoothie maker, both of which he bought for me) he is right it is a bit ugly and the crockpot does look like a 70's throw back .. retro's in, right?
I will, ofcourse blog about this tomorrow - that is unless I have given us all food poisoning!
Your quietly confident slow cooking pal
