Contacts V Specs

I have been a glasses wearer since I was 21. Which sounds better than saying that I have been wearing them for nearly 26 years.....darn it I have given my age away to those who feel the need to work it out! LOL

I have had some real goofy (not a phrase used much over here but I like it!) pairs and looking back I wonder what the heck made me to buy such horrid things! As the years have passed my taste has improved, well I think it has anyway. My last two pairs (they were BOGOF) were black with white legs with whire swirls on them, I liked them but the paint was starting to flake and my prescription had changed so I had/needed to get other specs. The second pair I rarely wore, they were a really cool green but I was never happy with the lenses. They were taken back as often to the shop as everything was fuzzy and it felt like the lenses were in wrong. I was assured they weren't but they did change them and the same problem was obvious. So they stayed in my drawer, unworn.

Now I have my new two pairs (BOGOF again) my favourite pair is my white, chunky framed Gok Wans (if you are a friend of mine on FB you will have seen the picure). They make me feel fab and actually inspire me to make a bit more effort in the morning instead of throwing on jeans and a t-shirt and plonking a hat on my head (I normally forget to do my hair first thing when I am getting the kids ready for school). The other pair are really pretty, deep purple metal frames with a bright pink rose on each leg. I have yet to wear them as I am right into my white pair.

As well as new glasses I have also taken the notion to trial contact lenses. I wore contacts years ago but stopped wearing them as my job, at the time, involved computer work for 7 hours a day and I felt my eyes drying out and becoming sore. So I cancelled the package and went for glasses all the time. The trial is going well. I was given 6 pairs of daily disposables to try out for two weeks and then go back for a further assessment. I have a slight astigmatism (This test is the first time that has ever shown up on my eye) in my left eye so I find vision a little less sharp through it on it's own but things are fine when I use both eyes. I still haven't decided if I will take out a lenses package or not as I don't know how much I will use them but I do like having the option to wear them if I like.

I have until Friday of this week to make my mind up. One reason I fancied lenses was for the summer when I wear sunglasses. I have had prescription sunglasses in the past but wearing them always meant carrying my clear ones for indoor use. Plus you don't seem to get the same cool big frames for prescription sunglasses anyway.

The kids do look at me funny now and ask if I have my "eye lids" in!
