Finally back on mybloggers, after spending several (4) weeks in the united states.
I will try to inform you a bit about what we did those weeks.
It all started on Monday July 19... Scheduled was a flight to Washington DC at 12.15 pm. All went well and cause of time difference we landed on DC at 2.30 PM. It was rather warm there (later we heard it was a heath record there lol). The planned shuttle to our hotel arrived on time and 4 pm we were settled in our hotel room. After some refreshments we went out for dinner close to Chinatown in an Irish pub. We liked the dinner we had (both ordered a steak btw) and we drank our first glass of wine in the states.
We also were reminded to the "tax" and "service" to our check. In Holland all prices are included tax and service (we also tip btw but not a necessary 15 till 20 %, cause service already is included in prices). Would be so much ore easier if that would be included in USA btw lol.
Cause of time difference we were quite tired so slept in early that night.
On day 2 and 3 we visited the usual tourist things. We had bought tickets for an hop on hop off buss so transportation was quite easy. With that tour we already saw a lot and it gave us the opportunity to choose things we want to visit again the coming days.
At Arlington we stepped out and visited the cemetery. Impressive to see the place were JFK has his grave. Next Lincoln and Korea memorial to visit. The next day we also visited Washington Cathedral and capitol hill. The cathedral was impressive. Weird to hear that Martin Luther King jr had his last sermon in there 5 days before he was killed.
On Capitol hill we learned quite some things about the US, how it was founded and so....Also the library of congress was awesome btw. Great building with a lot of interesting things to see. We ended our day at Union station. Great to see a building where once, before there were planes, all worldleaders arrived in Washington DC. Also we searched for the car rental service where we needed to pick up our car the next day.
