Thailand Part 1

It was the first time we went to the far east. My boss made the suggestion when we were thinking of booking the Canary islands again. " Why not to Thailand, tickets are a bit more expensive but life is much cheaper and the weather is great" .... so... we booked in august.
The resort we booked was located in Chaweng , a nice town on the north east side of Koh Samui. It was a nice kind of little bungalow, with minibar, TV, dvd player and good bed.
The first morning we woke up we were amazed about all the green around us.
In the restaurant breakfast was served everyday ( included) and it was able to choose out of 8 kind of breakfasts. I usually ate the continental, French or American one (Don't know if its typical American but it meant toast, baked egg with bacon, marmalade, orange juice and coffee or tea).
The first 2 days we mostly spent at the pool/beach, reading good books and drinking great (non alcoholic) cocktails.
Also a Thai massage was included and.... that felt good.
The first night we left for the centre of the city and like a lot of touristic cities...all shops were open, lots of clothes to buy and all kind of restaurants. My boss informed us about the best restaurants and also about restaurants serving great food but very very cheap. They were not in the main street off course but it was really worth it to leave the main street. Never ate such good Thai curry as I did there. The whole dinner, including drinks, costed 400 bath, about 8 euro (about almost 11 dollar) in total for the 2 of us.
We also made an excursion on Wednesday afternoon. We were picked up by a Landrover and went south. Some other tourists were picked up as well and after a half hour drive we stopped, ready for a walk by elephant.
I had to deal with the elephant a bit, he didn't look really happy, but was used to make his tour.
Also a temple was visited as well as a nice waterfall. Next stop was a coconut-plantage. Here, they told us about the monkeys pulling the coconuts off the trees. They showed us how the monkeys were trained and we saw monkeys really doing the job. They use monkeys cause its too dangerous for people to do it. Also, monkeys can do it much quicker. Some are able to do about 500 coconuts a day.
After the monkey training we were invited for a Thai cooking workshop. Us was told about the special ingredients and we were able to eat a nice Thai curry.
About 5 pm all was done and we left for the resort again.
Next blog I will continue ( btw will place a pic on my FB about the elephant tour)
