One of the very good things in Thailand was the food. There was a special "sea barbecue" on Tuesday evening. When we arrived a nice plateau was served, containing crab fish, king prawns, ink fish and some deep sea fish. I am not quite a crab/prawn eater, actually never ate crab fish so I didn't knew how to start with it. Well, my favorite waitress teached me and I must admit the taste was great.
One day later, Christmas-eve, the resort had arranged a fabulous x-mas dinner. Specially for Martin: first a duck salad, then king prawns, then a fish/apple-salad, next a neutralizer to get ready for duck in orange sauce and as desert some nice little glasses filled with all kinds of icy/creamy chocolate things. Off course coffee to finish.
During this special dinner Thai music was played and Thai dances were performed. All quests also received a Chinese lantern to let rise into the air, taking away all the bad things there are......
The next days we rent 3 times a motorbike to drive across the island.
We visited temples and nice villages, we visited nice shops, ate nice things at lunch and even visited a crocodile/snake show.
Thursday December 31 was our final day in Thailand. We wished eachother all the best for 2010 while we were waiting to board for our flight to Beijing.
In Beijing we had to wait for almost 7 hours. We were informed about that so we made preparations. We had a dvd (the code) to watch, had books to read and we had our iPods to listen to our favorite music.
Once back in Amsterdam my son was ready to take us home by car. Again a shock in temperature. We left Thailand with 33 Celsius and we arrived in Holland where it was freezing and snowing.
We had experienced a great vacation and already are thinking of doing it again next Christmas......
