Expansion #3

Promised to keep you informed about what all is going on here in the house. Last night I made the final preparations. Just some little things like moving the dustbin from the backyard to the frontyard (the builders need space lol), removing the final things to make the "builders-place" ready. My kids are used to park their bikes in the backyard (in Holland everyone has a bike) so asked them to park in the front from now.
I also had to inspect the kitchen for we are getting people to watch and perhaps to buy the old kitchen.
All is OK with the kitchen except 2 light bulbs at the backside of the cooker hood. The button to make them shine didn't worked nice as well, so had fixed it.
The electrician send us a bid for all that has to be done (electrically). We were a bit shocked of the amount. In the original bid of the builder it said 1500 euro for electricity. Now the bid was 3500 euro. I must admit we added some things but a raise of 2000 euro wasnt expected. Well we need it all, so ......
To lower the costs a bit we decided to go completely wireless with our area network. For that I bought a so-called "repeater" to strengthen the signal of my modem on the first and second floor. We have enough "internet-speed" (20mb dl-speed) so it should work with all our 4 pc's.
Today they finally started: 2 piles are driven into the ground and tomorrow sand will be removed and they will start with the fundaments.

Now the fun part starts, when you don't have a kitchen.

Wow, that is such a major project! It's good that it won't take more than a month or so for it all to get done, but it's too bad the cost keeps managing to go up. I know you want and need the stuff, but it doesn't make the cost any easier to pay...and it certainly doesn't make it an amount that one gets happy about. I am so sure that it will all look wonderful after it's done, though, and be so functionally efficient that you'll be glad you did it.

THat was a big jump from the original estimate! That is not fun! Sounds like you found a way to save in other areas, though.
