I love to walk and thankfully so does K. I bought a pedometer that measures the number of steps and I've read that a good goal is 10,000 steps a day. Many days I achieve that or more but some days I can't even if I'm active (like today when I was weeding for hours in the garden). When K & I went to Palm Springs we even had some 20,000 step days. Good luck.

Adorable. I am knitting an infinity scarf and discovered on the weekend that I was using the wrong size circular needle. Today I start again.

My solution - no plants in the house. We do have a bamboo in the apartment (like Mum's) which gets watered monthly and I had poinsettias over Christmas but now the house is back to being plant-free.

I recently heard that a number of people on my island had their credit card compromised. They were told to report it to the RCMP who have a fraud squad that investigate. What a pain.

Was your NY's resolution to become active in more craft groups? I spent yesterday with a friend scrapbooking for seven hours. We both set up on her large dining table and didn't want to stop. I'm still working on my photos from the trip to Asian and she is working on photos from a trip to Japan. Neither of us had done any scrapbooking since we went to a three day retreat last February and we needed to get something accomplished before we go to this year's retreat. I've been reorganizing my office/craftroom so I can work on my projects more regularly.

I can't imagine how long it would take for me to knit something as detailed as the christening gown etc. Beautiful work. I was with Mum when she bought the knitting sheep and knew you'd love it. Some crafts people are so imaginative.

Is entrelac knitting difficult? It looks impressive.

We missed you at Mum's on Boxing Day and I hope you are feeling better by now. It was great seeing DD#2 and her family. Great kids and the little girl is a real cutie. We returned to the island yesterday and I'm looking forward to a few days of R&R, although we did buy a small turkey which I'm cooking today. I miss having leftovers for sandwiches, etc.

PS I saw a friend in Vancouver and he told me he'd made us some Nanaimo Bars for Christmas - BUT he left them at home in the fridge. When we lived in Vanc. he gave us Nanaimo Bars every Christmas but we haven't received any since we moved.

I can relate. I'm just at the end of week 2 of a horrible cold - sore throat, running nose, cough, etc. It sure drains your energy and limits the fun of all the Christmas preparations. I was in Vancouver last Wednesday during the snow storm and since I had the car, a ferry reservation and no other option, I had to drive on the slippery roads. It was my first time out driving in snow in decades. Can you say "stressful"? Then when I reached the ferry the wind was howling and I was worried the boats wouldn't be running. I finally got home at almost 11 p.m.

Today I plan to finish my wrapping, do my baking (better late than never) and get set for the trip to Nanaimo tomorrow. Hope your cold improves by Christmas and that we'll see you on Boxing Day.

This skirt is too cute. We were just talking this week at my knitting group - The Knitwits - about other projects for this type of yarn. I'll share this with them since I know a few have granddaughters.

How sad to see such a grand old tree fall. Have you counted its rings to see how long its been in that location? We have had to remove lots of trees because they were dangerously too close to the house during wind storms.

Maybe the lack of summer weather is contributing to everyone's lack of friendliness. I find that most people seem in a much better mood when its warm and the sun is shining. I still haven't been to our Saturday market this year (it opened at Easter) because every time I plan to go, the weather doesn't cooperate. But I'll definitely be there this coming Saturday as I am selling Library fund-raising items, raffle tickets, etc. this week.

Nice photos. We also have a heat pump and it certainly does help reduce the heating bills. We find we don't use the cooling aspect in the summer because we forget to put it on until the house is too warm and then resort to the old technique of opening windows. I was in Victoria yesterday (a hematologist appt) but managed to fit in a 1 hour+ walk along the waterfront pathway. Lovely.
