Sunday Evening Potpourri

Good Evening, MyBloggerstown:
Dang, aint it hot?  It's like 95 here now. The three "h's" ...hazy, hot and humid have kicked in with all six cylinders.  I sit amidst two  fans, one in front and one at the side so I have sort of a nice cross breeze going on.   I found my old, comfy, raggity tank top that I wouldn't dare wear out in public unless I wanted to get busted on an indecentcy charge.
We had a yard sale this weekend.  Maybelleen wanted to try and sell some crap that belated tennents had left behind over the years and I had a few pieces of junk...I mean rare treasures, that I wanted to unload on some shmuck..I mean share with others of equally good taste.  I make a whole $3!!! I got rid of some coasters with New York City on them, a microwave vegetable steamer and another microwave thingy that you put leftover pizza slices in to heat up.  Hey, I just use a paper towel...then I have nothing to wash after.  I also got a nice sunburn for my trouble.  I mean we are talking lobster city.   Maybelleen and I were 'asposed to spell each other  at the yard sale table but she kept having things come up i.e. she had to take her grandson someplace, she had to go to the store, she had to go check  on one of the other rental properties they have....she even, and I am not making this up, went to other yard sales.  All whilst yer own Bugg sits baking.  Now, I unfortunately did not inherit many skin genes from my African-American father  and tend to get burned....but when the burn goes away it leaves a golden tan that lasts until NEXT summer.  I put some Noxema on the burn and that helped take the sting out and helps stave off the wrinkling.  I made some observations about yard sales and the denizens that skulk about therein.  People want you to give them stuff.  For free.  They come and root through shit and don't fold it back up/put it back where it was.  It took some effort to arrange that crap in an attractive presentation.  They are lazy.  They sit in the car and yell "How mucha wan' for that thur water jug."  Since it was Maybelleen's and I couldn't see the tag, I had to get up and walk all the way to the end of the table on my arthritic knees  and look.  All the while I am thinking "you lazy fuck..why don't you get off yer fat ass and see for yerself."  And the asshole didn't buy it afterall.  Then there was this one lady who came up wearing a tee shirt that said "Garage Sale Goddess" and proceeded to tell us in great detail about her medical problems.  I got up to go in and make a pit stop (this was one of the few times when Maybelleen was actually present).  I must've been in there 10-15 minutes.  When I came back she was still there.  She'd run out of health missives of her own and was now in the midst of an itemized recitation of what all ailed her late husband.  This woman's children need to visit her more often although I can understand why they might not.
So, that was all over with yesterday and now I am relaxing and watching various news shows which are all abuzz since Hill finally decided to officially throw in the towel. She fought the good fight and, as she stated so eloquently, made about 18 million cracks in the glass ceiling.  She walked away graciously and threw her whole hearted support behind Sen. Obama.  I find myself still wondering what Mr. Bugg would have thought of this moment in the history of our great nation.  And I wonder what all those who went before; Dr. King, Malcolm, Medgar Evers,  Rosa Parks and countless others who laid down their lives,  must be thinking as they look down on all these events and see Mr. Obama truely standing in the footsteps of giants.
Since my face is a rosy shade now, I noticed how grey my hair has become.  Oh, it's still mostly brown but there is more grey making a appearance that I had realized.  I also realized how much I am beginning to look like my grandmother.   Next thing ya know, I'll be wearing a tee shirt that sez  "I brake for yard sales" and drifting all over town boring total strangers with my medical history.

Have a good week, everyone

I realized I had a lot more "salt" that "pepper" in my hair when I installed those new-fangled fluorescent lights into my bathroom fixtures. Yikes! I ran screaming for the hair coloring products and just might be a red head again. BTW, try wearing a wet t-shirt to soothe your burn. Worked for my son.

By all means let's recruit them for the Federal Government. We might get out of debt.

I always find it amazing to see what people do while they are at yard sales. It is like they are negotiating a major purchase. Could you imagine the bargains if they worked for the federal government?
