Bugg's Excellent Adventure

Good Thursday, Blog Pals:
We've had a bit of a disaster at the Shady Pines Senior Complex.  The water main busted and flooded the basement with 8 ft,(yes, that's 8 FEET) of water. Of course I and several other rubber neckers, looky loos and nosy parkers went to look and it was like that scene in "Titanic" where the water was rushing up the stairwells in stearage.
We as a consequence have no water, power, heat, etc. So, the Cow Snot Housing Authority has put us all (50+ old folk and disabled) up in this really nice hotel. Wow. It is tres cool. The amenities at this self described "resort" blow the mind.  The room  is huge, has a king size bed and a flat screen tv(with cable and HBO). The bathroom is spa like and has a fridge under the counter. There is also a safe in the closet and a little coffee pot with assorted teas and coffees for your cafene fix. It is a shame that is is colder than a witches tit here else I can utilize the balcony.
There's a pool and a golf course too, which I can't use do to the February climes. The lobby of the Shangri La has a huge wood burning fireplace spacious comfy chairs and sofas, and polished woodwork out the ying yang. It looks like a ski lodge. This is just about the nicest hotel I have ever stayed in. I dined in the restaurant last evening on prime rib. We can even get room service if we want. There's free internet acess and the staff is couteous and has so far responded to my every whim (i.e. extra pillows)  I tell ya guys, this is the life. I want to live here from now on.
Of course, Cow Snot housing is picking up the tab including food. They won't let us run up a bar tab though, those cheap bastids. I mean really, its cold out and we have been forced from our homes. We need  something to warm us up and calm our nerves.
How long we stay depends upon how long it takes the Einsteins in the maintenance department to effect repairs and get our utilities back in working order. We have heard estimates from 2 days to 20 days. There is to be a meeting this a.m. with the poobah of the housing authority to discuss details.
The only fly in this luxurious ointment is that there are no elevators. And I am on the second floor. Naturally, my knees are singing Ave Maria and I think I'll be getting room service for most of my meals.
I had the forsite to clean out my fridge and sent my parishables over to brother Bubba'a house. He has one of those chest freezers and can accomodate my frozen foods with ease. The thought of loosing that pot roast, frozen pizzas, pot pies and lean cuisines was just too tragic to comtemplate.
As I sit here and write, it is 5:55 am MST and the sky in the east is beginning to lighten. Breakfast begins in 5 minutes and I want to take a shower before eating. I'll keep y'all abreast of developments.

How exciting! A vacation without the stress of having to travel over a distance. Back in the 70s when couples in Northern Colorado got married, their newspaper wedding descriptions would say they honeymooned at the Little America in Cheyenne. Knowing this area, you and I are the only ones who appreciate how pathetic that is, but no fault of the hotel, it's as nice as could be.

Yikes! At least your housing authority is acting responsibly. Last summer, when a water main had to have repairs in my neighborhood and we lost water for a weekend, all I got was a note on my door....

rumor has it that it will be 3 weeks until all is put right in our apartment building. this place is nice but the thought of three weeks here is disconcerting. I might go stay with brother bubba. he's got a spare room. I dunno.

I am glad they are putting ya up in a nice place, that helps. Sorry there are no elevators though, that seems quite strange!
Enjoy!!!

when you concider the number of flea bag hotels in town that they could have chosen, its mighty generous of them to put us up here.
