No place to go but forward now! Forward to much, much better things. "It's infuriating. It's scary. It's liberating." - That pretty much sums up the feelings in a nutshell. I am PROUD of you for standing up for yourself. You shouldn't ever let anybody discount you or take advantage of you. So many people would simply have taken what was offered and lost all self-respect. They would have also spent the rest of their lives grumbling about it. I've made three life-altering decisions in my life as far as my livlihood was concerned. Each one was viewed by many as a HUGE risk. Each one paid off unbelievably. In order to alleviate my fears when making these decisions, I honestly looked into the worst case scenarios that could come from them. When I realized that I could more than survive THE VERY WORST possibilities, my fears vanished. You're going to be fine. You're young. You're talented. You've got J. You've got your DREAMS. You've got a wonderful future. (You've also got big, brass ones, which is a real plus!)In your young life, you've already got MORE that most people have when their old and decrepit like me! Don't look back. Don't you ever look back! (If you do, I'm just going to have to come to BC and slap the crap out of you!)You've got too many great and exciting things in front of you! Go for it, kid! Take your husband-to-be, work hard, never lose sight of your goals, and begin your fantastic adventure together! Oh man! The places you are going to go!!!!
Glad to hear that R helped you put things into prospective. Mary Ellen does the same for me when I get the blues too. By the way, women have "tummies". Men don't. We've got either "stomachs" or "guts". Not "tummies". Just like we don't wear "outfits." Women wear "outfits". We were "clothes", or "pants", "jeans", "shorts", or "cut-offs" and "shirts". No "outfits.
Such wonderful work, Jon! This scene just makes me take a deep, relaxing sigh. I could look at it for hours!
After reading this post, I visited blogster for the first time since I left it. I actually established a new blog over there, MrWilson, and started browsing. BOY! Talk about angry and rude people! I ended up getting into a HUGE political fight with Rcmo over Obama, and I also ran into a self-professed man-hater and gay-bashers who were pretty vocal about their dislikes! Not only is blogster slower and harder to navigate than mybloggers, it's uglier. I find the people here much friendlier and MUCH MORE open-minded. MyBloggers is my home.
I just spit salad all over my desk!!!!!!!!
I have just recently found women's beach volleyball, and I've become a diehard fan! However, I'm not sure if I'm in love with the sport, or with the "uniforms!" I think I'm in love with Misty May!
I agrre with Spicybitch. I think you are correct in trying to keep it out of the papers and off the tube. What a frightening thing to have to go through!!!!!!! How old is your granddaughter? If somebody did something like that to one of MY two precious granddaughters, I think I'd have to kill him.
What a GREAT feeling it is coming back to the 21st Century, isn't it? I too have had recent computer woes. Mine got struck by lightning! Fortunately, I've got a GREAT friend who knows computers inside out. His name is Chris, and he writes the Oombutu blog here at MyBloggers. Not only did he fix it, he also added more RAM, making it work at lightning speed, a new DVD/CD player/burner (Never had one before) and new A Drive. (My old one bit the dust back when God was a kid. Mine cost me though - about sixty bucks for parts and a dinner for Oombutu at The Main Street Pub, (My favorite haunt!)
Being a temp can be beneficial. You get exposed to a lot of different work environments, and people get to see how well you work. I know a couple of people who started out as temps and ended up getting hired by their customers on a full time basis. It could open some doors for you. However, be wary that the work may not always be steady. However AGAIN, everything good thing comes with a risk.
I am always amazed at these McMansions that are built on 1/2 acre lots. The first thing the developers do is knock down every tree in sight. When the yuppies buy these places, they are amazed how hot they are in the summer and how cold they are in the winter! Don't these folks realize that shade is good for cooling, trees are GREAT wind-breakers which can add to housing heat in the winter time, and trees also make the air cleaner to breathe? (Then again, these folks never go outside, nor do they ever open their windows. So whay would they care about clean air?)
These guys are hilarious, and right on the money with their observations!
I understand that China is trying to put it's best foot forward to the rest of the world, and I guess wearing these masks put the quality of their air in a bad light. I think what we have to remember when we watch these Olympics is that the China we are seeing here is a very expensive facade. When my wife, Mary Ellen, was in China two years ago, she said the poverty was unbelievable, the regime was extremely oppressive (Foreigners can only move around with government-sanctioned guides) and the pollution of the waters and air was unimaginable.
Tiger, tiger burning bright... I've got a volume of Blake's Illustrated Poems. The man was a genius. Biting wit mixed with deep devotion. I LOVE his creation of "Nobodaddy."
I left blogster simply because it was so damned hard to negotiate around the site, and many of the folks there fairly intolerant to opposing points of view. I've never regretted the decision to come over here. I think you're right though, Sunni. I think we here at MyBloggers should make an attempt to encourage new-comers. Do you think Eddie could do something about this, or should we take it upon ourselves?
Sounds like the card trick has more of a plot than the movie you watched!
