A morning rendezvous at a roadside motel went so wrong on so many levels for
a Deerfield Beach man who expected to spend some time with a woman he met on a
chat line, the Broward Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.
The victim met Yasmick Jeune, 21, at the Super 8 Motel at 2300 SW 10th St. on
Monday morning, the Sheriff's Office said. Shortly afterward, a man knocked at
the door and robbed the 29-year-old victim, handing the money to Jeune, the
Sheriff's Office said.
When the victim realized he had been set up, he made a break for it,
struggling with the robber and leaving Jeune behind, the Sheriff's Office said.
The victim fled, and the robber walked away.
Jeune was still in the room when detectives arrived, according to the
Sheriff's Office. Detectives then realized Jeune, of Fort Lauderdale, was really
a man. He was arrested and faces armed robbery charges.
Detectives are trying to identify the robber who came to the door and whose
image was captured on a motel surveillance video.
The Sheriff's Office asks anyone with information to call Broward Crime
Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
