Florida: No. 1 for weird business news

Company rates Sunshine State at top for strange-news stories

November 23, 2009

It's official (sort of): Florida has ranked the state's top state for news of
the weird – according to Tableseed.com, a company that offers a birthday e-mail
club service for restaurants.

The rating – putting Florida ahead of New Hampshire (2), Alaska (3) and
Wyoming (4) – was based on a survey of about 2,000 Associated Press headlines in
2009.

Many of the strange stories had to do with businesses and consumer issues,
but were not limited to those topics.

Let's reminisce: in February, a man in Boynton Beach called 911 to report that a Burger King ran out of lemonade; in April,
a Florida lotto winner opened a nude dude ranch in Brooksville; and one steamy
July day in Miami, when peddlers were unable to sell a shark to fish markets,
they left its carcass on a street in downtown Miami.

I
could blame John--he mentioned Blue Belle ice cream in an e-mail and I
can't afford that so I got a cheaper brand--or I could accuse Allen as
we didn't have our ice cream fix this week--in any case somehow or
other (LOL) I wound up with
a half gallon ice cream called Hula Hula--made of 'whipped cream ice
cream, ribbons of luscious caramel, sweet bites of macadamia'--it was
okay but those luscious caramel bits laced throughout were a bit rough
on my newly repaired bridge--not that I stopped eating it!  :O)

It seems like stopping at Home Depot on Thursdays is becoming
a habit and, also, buying new plants is part of that habit--today I
bought a Christmas cactus--though I like them in a hanging basket a
smaller plant was cheaper and, hopefully, will grow enough so I can
transfer it to a hanging basket. I, also, bought a milkweed plant
which, if it grows a lot bigger, might find its home in John's back
patio, but don't tell him.

Last,
but not least, I hope they don't drive my neighbors crazy but I bought
about 10 (small) silver bells to put on my outside plants--they make less noise than a wind chime and certainly less noise than my birds so I don't think it will be a problem. :O)

I LOVE THE HOLIDAY!!!
