Many
of you know how much I enjoy living at Gateway but there is a downside
to living in a senior citizen community and that is the constant
reminder that we are not immortal. I have spoken some about our
evening breezeway get together where anywhere from 3-10 of us get
together around 5-5:30 to relax, talk and, yes, complain about our
aches and pains. As we were sitting there an ambulance and fire truck
came to pick up one of our group who had come home, supposedly, to die.
In this particular case it is very
sad. Her husband had died a few weeks ago while she was in the
hospital. She does have a loving family with 6 good looking, extremely
well mannered and brought up grown children who are not shy about
expressing their love for their mother. Unfortunately she is near the
end of her fight with cancer and we truly hope she finds peace soon.
Is
there a difference between a Republican, a conservative and/or a right
winger? And why do they want the President of the United States to
fail? So they can say, "I told you so."? Is that be the patriot that
want all Americans to be?
While on that subject, if they think Obama's plans will fail why aren't they offering another and/or better
solution? Are they waiting 4 years for, as they seem to think, America
to go down the drain so they can come back as the knights in shining
armor?
As
most of you know I am gay and very quickly get on the defensive if I
feel a gay person, gays in general, are being slighted, thought less of
than others, having slurs thrown at them, etc.
I
made a comment on what I thought was a negative look/take on gays and
wouldn't you know it only 'conservatives (all you had to do was read
their 'names') commented. What I did find was that fathers have a real
great fear of their sons being gay. Why? Do they see it as a reflection
on their manhood? When it is proven that there is a gay gene will they feel guilty for passing it on to
their sons? Why do they act like it is the worse of things that could
happen to their children? They profess they would love them anyway (how
nice of them) and yet thousands, literally, of kids are thrown out when
they are found out to be gay.
Why
do Republicans, over 65, who are so afraid that the President will
bring socialized medicine to the U. S., accept and use Medicare and
Medicaid , socialized medical benefits?
Why
isn't civics taught in schools anymore so tomorrow's leaders, and
generation, can know how to deal with government in all it's phases and
ins and outs?
Just an observation on a
personal note: as a gay man I don't think I have had it harder or
easier than a nongay man. As they, I have had my ups and downs, my
accomplishments and failures, the good and bad and here I am at 73
leading a good life.
AND NOW ON TO TOMORROW...
