went to Chippy the Pirate Bird store to get bird supplies. I was
keeping an eye out for a male budgie as I had just lost Butch and
wanted teh male to possibly mate with one of the females.
Very
few private bird stores breed, raise and/or sell budgeis because they
are so readily available in chain stores due to bird mills and can be
sold cheaply.
In any case I walked into Chippy's and there was a
male budgie in a cage by itself. (A BIG senior moment--I don't remember
her name--Gino's friend who works there!! GINO HELP!!!)) In any case
when I asked how much the bird cost she spoke to Clyde the owner. It
seems the bird had been found in an empty warehouse and he just wanted
to find a home for it. Needless to say I grabbed it and left! :O)
From the beginning Cassidy (hey, in honor of Butch I decided to call him that) 'picked' on the tiels,
always hanging around their cage and eating their food and playing with
their toys. Once in awhile they would get annoyed and lunge at him but
never bit.
Cassidy also liked to hang around on the finches cage teasing them. The only
one he didn't want anything to do with was me!! The guy who fed him!
Gave him toys! Fresh water! Kept his cage clean! That is until this past week.
Lately
when the tiels came over to see me or get on the monitor and watch me
blog he had joined them keeping a wary eye on me. Then last night I got
a surprise. He hopped on my back and stayed there the whole time I
reached for the camera and tried to take a few pictures finally getting
two and it wasn't easy. You try to take a picture of a small object on
your back. :O)
