When I met Cathy to go shopping at Noon on Thursday looking around I asked, "What storm?" Seeing pictures 1, 2 & 3 it was drier around Gateway than even the next day after King Tides! The sun was out and except for a little more water than usual at the exit it was just another day in Fort Lauderdale, that is until we hit 6th Avenue going down to Winn-Dixie!
Here and there streets were so flooded they were blocked off to traffic. When we got finished with food shopping I suggested we cut through the park to get to Sunrise Boulevard and, maybe, avoid more flooded streets, going to pick up my laundry---WRONG!!! The park was completely flooded and we had to turn back and went on Sunrise where it was dry all the way to the Laundry/Cleaners only to find it closed!

Got home, put the groceries away and all was quiet until about 4:30 PM and the skies opened up as if we were in a hurricane except the wind was under 50 miles per hour. The first picture, upper left corner, shows that the rain was coming down at 5.63 inches per hour and it didn't end until Midnight/1 AM!

Today there was little if no rain and tomorrow (Saturday) it is supposed to be dry again but Sunday night/evening the skies are said to be pouring loads of rain.

I am sure you have seen the pictures on TV and/or the Internet and/or in the newspapers. Schools are all closed and the airport didn't reopen until this evening but all in all The Gateway Terrace Apartments, The Gateway Shopping Center and The Gateway Movie Theatre were all open, dry and working as I went to the movies this afternoon without any problems!
