Spending Money as If I Have it and Something Free

It being Friday Allen came by so that we could go to the movies.
Having time, and my having a 2-4-1 coupon for Denny's (okay, so I will
eat anywhere!), we decided to go there first. As we pulled away from my
place the skies opened up and the rain came pouring down. Just getting
from the car to the restaurant I got so wet that my jean shorts are
still damp now, 9 hours later!

After that we went to see "All
About Steve"--see my review--where I 'won' a free 'small' soda that was
big enough for two people.

After
the movie we went to a place that was holding a huge Circuit City
liquidation sale. I have been looking for a DVD/VHS comboplayer and
recorder and most that I had seen cost over $300. They had one on sale
for $127.77 so doing a little figuring and knowing it would be tight
but I could pay for it by the beginning of next month I charged it. Now
I just have to find someone who can connect it for me!!! It is a good
thing I checked because there wasn't  manual in the box!

Also looked at computer monitors--my is a 15" one and, at least, 5 years old. There was a 19" monitor on sale for $77.77 but because of Allen (it is all HIS fault!!! LOL He insisted I get the bigger one and was even going to give me the $10
to buy it!) I got the 20" one for $87.77. What amazed me is that I
hooked it up all my own when I got home!

THE NEW ONE          THE OLD AND NEW

(In case you don't know it the screen saver is a scene from "A Chorus Line"--the stage production.)

Now this is something you may not believe because you know how much I am against them but yesterday I received a FREE cell phone. Let me explain how/why I got it. You may have seen the ad for Safelink which provides a free cell phone for old, poor people. I decided to get
it for an emergency phone. I hate phones and very seldom make calls but
with this I could carry it when I am alone, for instance, if I am in a
car by myself and something happens.

In
any case, from what I understand, I get 71 free minutes. Now I don't
know if this is per month or for the 417 days I have the phone for
because it does say something about roll over minutes. Don't laugh--I
don't know. I do know I lose minutes if I make calls or if I get calls!!

Looks like I will be reading manuals and checking web sites all weekend!!

Allen
who didn't plan to spend any money, or buying anything, couldn't say no
to a new monitor that he really got a good buy on. I think it was a 25"
one but he saved about $200 on it!

After
this buying spree we went to the California Pizza Kitchen to split a
salad and pizza which Allen insisted on paying for--he is getting a bad
habit from me--money burns a hole in his pocket when I am around!!
