On Sunday, November 2, 2008, the Broward County transit commission will be
cutting the route 55 bus from the terminal, along Broward Boulevard and Victoria
Park Road, through Victoria Park and eliminating it's ride up Bayview Drive to
Commercial Boulevard making it impossible for people to make east-west
connections on Sunrise, Oakland Park and Commercial Boulevard.

Eliminating this route also makes it near impossible for working people to
get to their jobs in the Victoria Park area. Also, as an example of the heart
ship this elimination will cause is the fact that the Gateway Apartment
residence which is home to over 260 senior citizens will make it almost
impossible for many of them due to health, heart and leg problems to walk to the
10-15 blocks to catch a bus. Many of these seniors, using wheelchairs, walkers,
canes, etc., depend upon the route 55 bus to get to their doctors, to go
shopping , to get to the jobs where they do volunteer work, etc.

No solutions have been offered by the Broward County commission except to
come up with a million dollars!! How about running the buses every hour instead
of on their current schedule? Or how about either the 10, 40 or 36 bus go south
on NE 19th Avenue from Sunrise Boulevard, go across NE 7th Street and then up NE
20th Avenue and continue on their regular route where working people, senior
citizens and/or people who can't afford current gas prices and would like to
take public transportation can make east-west-north and south
connections???

At a time when everyone is hurting financially why eliminate a way people
can save some money, get to their jobs, doctors, do shopping?
Can't the commissioners and/or Broward County transit come up with a solution
other than eliminating miles of a bus route?
