Soldier Who Came Out on "60 Minutes" Booted
The US Army has finally gotten around to expelling Sergeant Daniel
Manzella from its ranks for "homosexual admission," even though the
medic was out to his comrades and superiors since 2006, served two tours
in Iraq, and told his story on CBS's "60 Minutes" last year. He will
now dedicate himself to fighting the ban on out gays and lesbians in
the armed services, he told WIVB-TV in Buffalo. "The people that
enforce this policy are an older generation, from when homosexuality
was banned all together," he said.
