Monday Watercooler: Elton John sings at Rush Limbaugh's fourth
wedding (family values?????)

Monday Watercooler: Elton John sings at Rush
Limbaugh’s fourth wedding

  • Family
Research Council doesn’t want you dead. They do want you to be less gay
. After it came out that  the Family Research Council paid lobbyists good
money to block any House or Senate resolutions condemning Uganda’s “kill
the gays” bill, the organization felt the need to explain itself. “FRC did not lobby against or oppose passage
of the congressional resolution,” the group said. “FRC’s efforts, at the
request of Congressional offices, were limited to seeking changes in
the language of proposed drafts of the resolution, in order to make it
more factually accurate regarding the content of the Uganda bill.”
Would love to know what facts so bothered the FRC team. The group says
loudly andproudly that it does “not support the Uganda bill, and does
not support the death penalty for homosexuality – nor any other penalty
which would have the effect of inhibiting compassionate pastoral,
psychological, and medical care and treatment for those who experience
same-sex attractions or who engage in homosexual conduct.” Like the type
of care once administered by that tired old queen George Rekers ?

  • Why didn’t
Gallagher just give us this woman’s name
? Remember when we asked Maggie Gallagher for a sit down with the
gays and lesbians who worked for NOM? Ms. Thing declined to  talk (we
don’t bite Maggie!), but if NOM hasn’t done so it should put Eve Tushnet on its payroll. She is a
Catholic, conservative, celibate lesbian, who does not believe in
    marriage for the gays.

  • Black men,
    HIV/AIDS, and the White House
. Last week the White House sponsored
a symposium called the White House Meeting on Black Men and HIV .
Thirteen speakers, on three different panels, talked about how best to
combat the virus in the black male community. We give Obama well earned
grief for being slow on gay and lesbian issues, but he gets thumbs up
    for this.

  • Hey young
    people? Wear a condom
. Check out this column by Boston Globe scribe
Yvonne Abraham . At this late date it’s a
monstrous failure  all around when a young person contracts HIV. Looks
like there is still confusion about how the disease is spread. If you
are looking for decent information, please go to GMHC for this primer.

  • Rush
Limbaugh gets married for the fourth time. Elton John sings at
    the wedding
. Before you freak out here are two things to remember:
    1) Elton allegedly was paid $1 million bucks,  and 2) Rush might be cool on gay stuff.

  • A kiss in
    at a restaurant
. The owner of La Fiesta Azteca , an eatery in the ‘burbs
of Chicago, swears he’s got no issue with gays. He just doesn’t want
customers subjected to displays of vulgar gay PDA. Wonder if he acts the
same when there is straight kissing in his establishment? “I don’t feel
like I did anything wrong when I told them to leave,” said Jaime
Esparza. The pair, Frank Nielsen and Danny Hankes organized a kiss in to
protest their treatment. “It’s to educate people that homophobia of any
kind is unacceptable,” said Nielsen. Want to bet Papa Bear O’Reilly jumps all over this
    story?

  • Portugal
    has its first gay marriage
. Congrats to Teresa Pires and Helena Paixao . The couple
were the first in Portugal to be married under the country’s same sex
marriage law. Good luck to the newlyweds.
