Rock, Burn, Nickled and Dimed

All
I could think of since last night was where do the 21 dancers in "Burn
The Floor" get all that energy plus how many injuries do the dancers
suffer each show, let alone each week? (To see my review go to www.corinescorner.com)

The next show we see is "Rock of Ages", the Tony Award winner for best musical 2009, on December 28--from wikipedia; "Rock of Ages is a rock/jukebox musical, with a book by Chris D'Arienzo,
built around classic rock hits from the 1980s, especially from the
famous glam metal bands of the decade. The musical features songs from
Styx, Journey, Bon Jovi, Pat Benatar,
Twisted Sister, Steve Perry, Poison and Asia, among other well-known
rock bands"--wonder how this reviewer is going to appreciate the rock
scene of the 80s when he didn't even listen to it then? me and metal
rock? Should be interesting!

For
those of you who don't read my Great Gay Author blog I would like to
suggest you check it out today and tomorrow to read the speech given by
Peter, from Australia, who use to be a blogger here.

Most of you know how grateful
I felt when I lucked out getting a fabulous apartment here at Gateway
so don't take this as a complaint against anything, or anyone, as for
what I get in return for the small amount of rent I pay is mind boggling.

I
was called into the office today and signed a new lease--my rent went
up $2!!! Senior citizens didn't get a raise this year and won't be
getting one next year 'because certain prices haven't gone up' and yet
as seniors, in most cases, we are being nickled and dimed to death and in the case of health care it is more than nickles and dimes--and that has nothing to do with the new health plan.

Everyone
knows gas prices are up again, food is slowly going up in price but it
is the 'little' things that add up. Washing and drying clothes has gone
up 10-15 cents, TOPS, a form of public transportation has gone from $2
to $3.50 one way, phone and TV bills are up, entertainment, from movies
to eating out, is getting out of sight, over the counter items in
drugstores are inching up and so on.

I've
lived on $5,000+ a week and I have lived on $600 a month and I will
survive without a raise but living in a senior residence I see how many
are affected. Many aren't going to doctor appointments, some have cut
their medical dosages in half or are skipping them completely while more
than should aren't eating basic amounts of food to stay healthy.

I won't get into the politics of taxes, cuts, eliminating services, etc., but I hope all think before throwing people aside.
