Gay, Poor Old Man

Cities & Towns > For Robin: Take Notes :O)

For Robin: Take Notes :O)

Robin and his family will be coming from Holland to the USA and will be in Fort Lauderdale for  a couple of days. I know they plan to go to the Sawgrass Mills Mall which has hundreds of outlet stores with some of the biggest
names in the world. I have already suggested a few places to eat and a
few things to see and do but I was thinking of them this afternoon.
Dolores was coming over to clean my place and, since it looked like a
rainy day and, I have seen the movies I wanted to see and, I like to
get out of Dolores's way I decided to go to theGalleria Mall. I am not a 'shopper" per se and window shopping certainly isn't my thing. I decided I would have
lunch at the food court, walk around a book and go to the bookstore to
buy a new dictionary and a new nutrition book. The first thing I found
out was that the bookstore had closed!!!

Robin, the Galleria mall is very upscale so save your buying for Sawgrass. It is worth seeing just to go into Neiman-Marcus, checking out the prices and then seeing the same items at their outlet store for so much less. In any case this mall is only about 10 minutes from your hotel and 5 minutes from
my place. On each side of the entrance to the mall are two very
expensive restaurants: The Capitol ( a steak house), PJ Wangs (a Chinese restaurant), The Blue Martini (basically a bar with snacks) and 52 Seasons (an excellent restaurant where each dish is only
480 calories!!!) I do recommend the latter for a snack, have a couple
of their appetizers or their desserts which are served inliqueur glasses.

By the way you can buy me a Jaguar that is on display if you want to or the Cadillac Escalade which is a slow speed (19 mph) electric car.

Though
they have a very elaborate, extensive food court with foods
representing the world but it is all, basically, fast food and I
wouldn't want you to think this is the best, even good or even
representative of food in the USA.

The
10 pictures above are just some of the food stations--I did get some
odd looks as I took the pictures and, yet, as I went around the mall
taking pictures nobody paid attention to me--I think it was because most of them were tourists!!!  LOL

Of course I had to stop at Godiva's for a little energy pick me up which, Robin,
you will find in a very convenient spot in the middle of the mall.
Again, a strong suggestion, not to buy anything at this mall because whatever you want/need will be a lot cheaper at the Sawgrass plus there is a Cheesecake Factory there!!!

By the way Dolores never came to clean as it was pouring when she was suppose to be over so she will do it next week only I won't be going back to
the mall as I am sure there is a movie I will want to see. And, as I
said, I am not a shopper! LOL

Okay, Robin, the Sea Watch, 15th Street Fisheries, Cheesecake Factory, Old Florida Seafood House, Catfish Dewey's and Cheddar's restaurants are waiting for you and I suggest you all take a cruise from downtown at the Riverfront that goes all up and down the inter-coastal or the River Queen boat ride and you will see not only all of Fort Lauderdale but some magnificnt homes. Now if I knew how many days/nights you were staying I could make some other suggestions!!
