The riverfront in downtown Fort Lauderdale was suppose to be a take
off on the riverwalk in San Antonio--trust me, it wasn't and isn't!!
The western end was anchored by commercial stores, restaurants and a 15
screen theatre. All the restaurants and stores have closed as those
that replaced them and the movie house has never made money. The
biggest problems were no parking and they didn't have any events to
bring people downtown.
I do like the theatre because has it has stadium seating and is
never busy. Don't have to be concerned about noisy movie goers, cell
phones and sticky floors not to mention tickets are $6--actually $6
with an Internet coupon or $6.25 for seniors without a coupon! :O)
They use to have a huge game arcade and 2 bars on the main level
while now it is 3-4 games and one bar with very few customers BUT they
have made a deal with a local city garage for 3 hours free parking and
they have large screens.
Today we went to see "Australia" (see my review) there.
This is the riverfront entrance sign.
