Plaza Stage: Donna Mckechnie Phase Comes to an End

And so an important part of my 19th Leap Year birthday comes to an end but there is so much in the next 6 days that it will probably take 2-3 weeks to get it all posted in my blogs--there
are movies, restaurants, news articles, special gifts, feelings, people
and more to talk about, especially with "BILLY ELLIOT--THE MUSICAL" opening night on Tuesday preceded by The Cheesecake Factory but let me talk one last time about The Plaza Theatre where Donna McKechnie opened the new theatre
.

You walk UP the stairs to the entrance of the auditorium and then you walk DOWN the stairs to get to your sit.

Welcome to the new Plaza Theatre, which for 17 years was the Florida Stage theatre company. The company moved in 2008 to the Kravitz Performing Arts Center to their own separate building and 2 years later declared bankruptcy.

This
year Alan Jacobson reopened the the old Florida Stage in the Plaza
shopping center, called it The Plaza Theatre and on opening
night/weekend presented Donna McKechnie in "My Musical Comedy Life" and has set up 9 shows between now and February 2013.

Most
shows are salutes to singers and/or songwriters such as:  Irving Berlin
Salutes America, Music! Music! Music!, I Am Music; The Songs of Barry Manilow, Don't Rain On My Parade: A Tribute to Barbra Streisand, Bette Midler and Carole King, The Way We Were: A Musical Journey Through The 70s,
and more along those lines so you know he is after the Palm Beach crowd!

AND NOW ON TO:

MY LEAP YEAR CACTUS!

February 29th is special...

It's the reason that a season comes at the same time every year.

If you're born on Leap Day... Welcome Home!

Hard to believe but $80 or more is pretty standard for theater tickets in downtown Chicago. You just have to bite the bullet if it is something you really want to see. I don't go into the city often. We have local theater nearby doing musicals.

Even our local theatres are getting $30-50!

I only get 2 tickets--even my friend Robert from Maine had to buy his own--- I can't afford $85 tickets!
