The Perfect Theatre Part 2

A THEATRE IS A BUILDING THAT YOU GO TO SEE THEATER!

I
really messed up here but will get to that in a minute. The Parker
Playhouse has 3 lobbies. There is one in front where the box offices are
and then one on the left with one on the right, the latter two
opffering the doors to enter the theatre proper.  The side lobbies each
have 3 larger than life pictures of famous stars.

I
don't know how I did it but I 'lost' three of the pictures--those of
Laurence Olivier, Getrude Lawrence and Yul Brynner, the latter two
dressed for "The King and I" and Olivier as Hamlet. I will have to go
back and retake those picturtes.

One
of the delightful shows I saw at the Parker was "Jerry's Girls"
featuring the songs of Jerry Herman, produced by Zev Buffman starring
Carol Channing, Leslie Uggums and Andrea McArdle opening a day before my
12th Leap year birthday on February 28, 1984, in Palm Beach. When it
came to Fort Lauderdale, in March, Ken Smith and I went to see it. It
would eventually go to Broadway with Carol, Dorothy Loudon and Chita
Rivera.

For
the record in 1996, my 15th Leap Year birthday, I saw Christopher
Plummer as "John Barrymore" at the Parker before it went to Broadway and
he won the Tony Award for the role.
