Cold just keeps coming

To thin-blooded Floridians, this winter probably seems unusually frigid so far.
We’ve had number of chilly nights, including potent shots of polar air on Jan. 22 and just this past weekend.
And here comes the most arctic conditions yet, expected to land a cold-fisted haymaker by Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
Most of South Florida will see temperatures plunge into the mid to
upper 30s. Far inland areas near the Everglades are expected to feel
near freezing conditions.
But the National Weather Service says all this nippy weather is not that unusual.
It might be a bit abnormal to see biting cold in February, as it more commonly arrives in January.
Yet it's a simple fact: Cold weather happens in the winter, even here in the Sunshine State, said meteorologist Dan Dixon.
“What we’re seeing here certainly isn’t out of the ordinary,” he said.
Bottom line: We’re just in a cold period.
Before you know it, in a few short months, we’ll be basking in the heat.
