June 1, 1999, I officially
became a resident of The Gateway Terrace Apartments in a section of Fort
Lauderdale called Victoria Park and it feels like I have been living in Paradise
ever since. Below is a brief description of the area I live in as
described by the Victoria Park Civic Association and I follow that with
some pictures I took the other day.
MY
FIRST APARTMENT IN VICTORIA PARK
Nestled in the heart of downtown Fort
Lauderdale, we're a vibrant
community that's evolving into the future while
still retaining the charm of Old Florida. Â Located between the Isles of Las Olas / Intracoastal Waterway /
Middle River and Federal Highway, stretching from
Broward to Sunrise
Boulevards, we're home to more than 10,000 diverse residents
who enjoy living near the amenities of Downtown, the shopping and fine
dining of
Las Olas, and sun, sand and surf of
the world famous Fort Lauderdale Strip --
all while enjoying a cozy residential neighborhood. Â If real estate is
all about
"location, location, location" -- we have it, have it, have it! Â And if
community is all about people, we have a diverse and tolerant population
pulling
together to make our corner of paradise even better. There's a lot going on in our neighborhood
-- and our Association is busy too. Â So check out what's happening.
It being spring time in Fort Lauderdale there isn't a
street/avenue you can go to that doesn't have at least one Poinciana
Tree on it. They come in 3 colors; red, white and blue but it are the
red ones that just seem to be bursting in flames.
Not too far from the Gateway apartments is a small
park with a gazebo and dog walk path that is surrounded by homes that
range from cottages to stately mansions.
As you drive along Victoria Park Road, going
south, when you follow the road it curves and turns into Broward Boulevard and at the first
traffic light you are greeted by the iron horse you see above.
A few blocks away from the horse is the only
tunnel in Florida, for now, the Kinney tunnel. (They have just started
to build another tunnel in Miami connecting their port with the
MacArthur causeway leading to Miami Beach.)
Wherever you
look in Victoria Park you see color and Mother Nature glowing.
WELCOME TO MY NEIGHBORHOOD
