Allen came over after he finished bowling and had to go to have blood drawn so we went to the blood place before going out for lunch and before he took me on my usual Wednesday errands, including buying the winning lottery ticket. (Okay, okay, now that I have finished laughing I'll continue.)
I mentioned to Allen that the Sage cafe was doing 2-4-1 lunches. We had been there before, really enjoyed it and though it was a little expensive and up scale we decided we deserved it, so we went.
The Sage has been there for quite a few years and has an excellent reputation for good French food but like most restaurants today they might be having trouble as their prices are above average. We are expecting a lot of restaurants to go under this summer and many will be offering 'special deals' to draw in business and, yes, I plan to take advantage of the deals as I love eating out!
Looking over the menu I decided to have the sausage, tomato and cheese crepe while Allen ordered the sirloin steak, grilled onions and Gorgonzola sandwich. He had a coke and I had coffee. As we waited we were served sliced French bread with an eggplant, garlic and oil pate like spread which was tasty.
On the left is the crepe which I opened up to take a picture of the savory innards and Allen's sandwich wasn't bad either! :O)
We tend to eat after regular lunch hours so though it wasn't crowded when we got there it was empty, except for a young gay couple in the corner by the window, by the time we left.
Even with the 'free' lunch the check came to $24, including tip, but with most lunches running between $8-12 each in restaurants we will probably come back here a few more times in the next couple of months. Why don't you join us?
