Looking over My Blogging Habits!

"DON'T WORRY ABOUT THINGS YOU DON'T HAVE
CONTROL OVER"

Every once in awhile I
have to stop, step back and see what I am doing blogging.
When I started blogging 6 years ago I
committed myself to blogging at least once a
day. Now I blog about twice a day,
once in the morning when I usually copy and paste news articles and once
in the evening about my life. The first year or two I wrote mainly
about my life in the past covering my coming out years, weight watchers,
ex-lovers, making more money than even I could spend, opening my own
business, living in Memphis, going through a 'divorce' in business and
my personal life, traveling around the world, my success as a writer,
publishing books, moving back to Florida, going broke twice, meeting the
love of my life, etc.  After that I started writing about my present
life which included old friends, making new friends, how I spend my
days, the joy of living in Gateway, writing movie and restaurants
reviews, having congestive heart failure and a couple of years later
having an aorta valve replacement operation, getting introduced to birds
as pets, etc. Oh yes, and saying about 5 million times how lucky, happy
and rich I am in my life.

I got so involved with blogging that when I stopped to reassess how much
time I was spending on the Internet I was shocked. I was writing and
posting blogs on 9 different
web sites! Between all the sites I was subscribed to over 100 bloggers and my e-mail box was
filled with innumerable notifications of new posts and comments not to
forget regular e-mails. Between reading blogs, commenting on them (I
thought I had to comment on EVERY blog I read as a courtesy) and commenting on comments, writing and posting blogs plus writing restaurant and
movie reviews for 2 specific sites, I was isolating myself in front of
the computer for too many hours.

Almost
immediately I cut out posting on 7 of the blogs still doing two plus the
reviews. I unsubscribed to
at least 50 blogs and
stopped commenting on all the posts I read. I've also stopped reading
particular bloggers because
either they were boring, only wrote on one subject saying the same thing
over and over or were rude, crude and obviously prejudiced against
various groups of people. Also, lucky me, there was one site where
people were crazy about blocking people who didn't agree with them so I
'lost' a few blog readings
there being blocked! LOL

Though I would
never block anyone from reading my blog I did ignore 4-5 people by not reading and/or commenting on their blogs and/or not acknowledging
comments they left on my blogs in hope they would get the message but dumb people are dumb people and
don't/didn't take the hint. LOL
A couple of people got the message, others didn't. I do delete comments
left on MY blog that I feel
are inappropriate.

I still find
myself spending too much time in the land of blogging. I was debating just blogging at one blog site because the people are
cool, calm, don't fight or argue, do disagree without name calling.
Another is all 'drama', people instigate arguments, use  street language
unnecessarily, are basically 'trailer trash' and, yet, I have met some
interesting people there, have made friends with warm, caring people,
learned a lot about politics from non-screamers, people who care. The
main thing I have against the blog site is the disrespect people show
.

I've said before that no one pays for the
roof over my head, the food in my belly or the clothes on my back. I may
live in  subsidized housing, get social security and get $10 a month in
food stamps but what I paid in taxes in my money making days will pay
for whatever I am getting 'paid' now until at least 2018 so petty people
with their crass stupid remarks are very funny to me.

What's that all
about? I have found more ways to cut back on my blogging time without missing all
the fun blogging can be and
is. No longer will I even open notification e-mails from people I
consider nasty and I will cut out looking at the list of the latest blogs on both sites. I am going
to hold my comments to important things as most bloggers know who reads them and
those who don't. I am also going to cut out some more posts I subscribe
to.

I really enjoy
reading blogs and I
certainly appreciate those who read mine. Blogging has been the continuation
of the diaries I have kept for over 60 years so primarily I write blogs for myself but, as I wrote
in the preface of my last book, I hope people will learn somewhat about
life from my posts even if it is what NOT to do!
