Le Tub--a Restaurant Review--5 Stars!

There is really
a lot to write about Le Tub but the most important thing is that it
lives up to its hype. I have constantly been disappointed about hearing
how great a restaurant is but in this case it was super all the way. I
took about 30 pictures in and outside the restaurant but I will post most of them on another day
Right now I want to talk about the surroundings and , yes, the food.

Below I quoted
from the Le Tub web site but it doesn't tell you how old Florida it is.
The restaurant wanders all over the place with old wood used for tables and chairs, hanging plants here and there and native flowers and bushes wherever you look. The
restaurant sits between busy A1A, without you being aware of the noise and traffic  and the Inter-coastal where not
only can you watch the yachts sail buy within reach of your hand but throw over the side what
you can't finish and the
fish jump up and eat before
you can even see them!

Let's talk about
the food! There are a variety of items on the menu from salads to chili
to seafood but what you want here is their
13 ounce burger!!! It
is served on a seeded kaiser roll and you can have it either plain or
with American cheese ($.50 extra) or Swiss ($1 more) There is only the
one size burger and the basic one costs $11. All come with lettuce,
tomato and onions plus whatever condiment you want. We made a mistake by
ordering fries (large $5) but at least we had brains to share it!

Allen had 2 cans of coke ($6) and I had 2
cups of coffee($1--no charge for refills) plus they have a large canteen
of water that the customer serves to themselves. They have only 1 small
grill and with those thick burgers it can take over 30 minutes to be
served and I can just imagine how long it takes to get your food in
'season'.

Le
Tub has been hyped on Oprah Winfrey's show, is listed as one of the
best burgers in the USA by GQ,
has been raved about on talk shows, in magazines and newspapers and, folks, the burger and the restaurant live up to the
hype!!

Below is what is written
on their paper menu and it is as whimsical as the owner Russell T.
Kohuth makes it sound--A MUST VISIT WHEN YOU VISIT SOUTH FLORIDA!

(I WILL BE POSTING MORE PICTURES OVER THE
WEEKEND.)

Welcome to Le Tub

Established November 2nd 1959 as a Sunoco gas station.... Closed by the energy crunch of the early seventies, your
Host
purchased the barren property in 1974 and dedicated a concentrated year
personally hand building LeTub totally of Flotsam, Jetsam and ocean borne
treasures all gathered daily over 4 years of day break jogging on
Hollywood
Beach. All landscaping, planting and decor by your host.

About Us

LeTub Saloon has been safely
tucked away on A1A
behind lush greenery, that
even people who have lived in Hollywood for years,
have unknowingly driven right past. For the last 32 years it has been a
refuge
to a large handful of lucky locals, whom either found it while boating on the
Intercoastal Waterway or
informed by word of mouth, for there were no signs and no advertising.

LeTub has been impressing people
for many years and for
many reasons. The food(all of it)has always been outstanding, no matter
what you
choose to eat.We offer many one of a kind recipes you won’t find anywhere else,
including our Seafood Gumbo the House Salad Dressing, and Key Lime Pie that has
always been made on premises and
the recipes have never been differed. The only
thing that has differed is our recent claim to fame in 2006 when GQ gave our
Burger #1 in the nation. We know what a honor that is and truly appreciate it,
yet we believe that LeTub should remain impressing people for the same reasons
it always has. And for the
people who appreciate the food and atmosphere that
took years and hard work to
establish, and so many come
here to enjoy.We surly
hope that if you have some extra time on your hands you will come and enjoy what
the locals already get…..A little slice of Heaven on Hollywood Beach
