That Kiss, New Pastor, Cake, Unbirthday, Full Moon

In 2010 there is still a
double standard only in reverse. Sandra Bullock kisses Myrle Streep on the lips on television and most
people don't hear about it but Adam Lambert kisses a male band member and it is
the kiss heard around the world! Why? Is it because Adam is gay and Bullock and
Streep are not perceived that way?
Just asking.

Most people who know me,
or read my blogs, know that I was born
on February 29 and therefore being a Leap Year baby I only celebrate my birthday
once every 4 years and I have a big bash then. Two things happened today that
sometimes makes me happy living in a senior citizen residence and other times
not!

I came home today to hear
a message on my answering machine from Emily that I should come down to her
place as she had something for me. It turned out she baked me a rum cake for,
you guessed it, my birthday. Well I didn't want to hurt her feelings so I took
it!! And then there is the other side of the coin. Someone asked me how old I
was going to be next month and I said
74 when a voice piped up and said, "If you were Chinese you would be 75!"  It
seems that according to their way of thinking by the time you celebrate your
first birthday you have already lived a year and on your birthday you are
starting your second year so, according to that logic, I will be 75 at the end
of next month. My argument is that I
was born on February 29th which means I am only 18 and 1/2, but
that's okay, I have no problem being 19 and 1/2, 74 or 75--as long as I am still
here and, just ask John, I have no intention of going!!

Talking of going or not
going, we have a new Pastor at Gateway. He comes to us from New Orleans where he
worked during and after Katrina but, as I told him, he has never dealt with
the 260+ people over 62. I wish him
well here. (Don't know what happened to the second picture.)

As I was leaving the breezeway, and walking towards
The Point, I noticed that it was after 6 and still light at which meant the days
are getting longer---HURRAY--and it is only about 6 more weeks to Daylight
Savings Time--more HURRAY--and looking up I noticed the almost full moon (it
goes FULL in two days.) There was a cool breeze and everything felt right with
the world.

It being Thursday I did my
usual shopping rounds: The Dollar Tree, Winn Dixie, The Home Depot and Publix. I didn't buy a new plant this week
and instead bought a wind chime, a wind sox and twizzles for my little corner of the world.
I just hope they don't bother my neighbor!.

74, or 75, I am the luckiest guy in the
world!!!
