Just What I Didn't Need--another Addiction!

I spent ALL afternoon watching Donna McKechnie doing her show stopping solo, "The Music and the Mirror" from "A Chorus
Line" and alternating it with watching and listening to Sammy Williams
doing his show stopping monologue from the same show.  WHY?

Ten
years ago (wasn't it Chuck?) I was introduced to the world of computers
and have been at it since. Not knowing better, or being able to afford
more, I have always used dial up and said that I had plenty of time,
wasn't in any rush and could read the paper as I surfed from web page
to web page. Okay, I couldn't see videos that people posted or
sometimes it took so long for a page to download (hi blogster e-mail) that I would just abort the operation. All in all I was happy
with dial up until lately people have been pushing me to at least try
it. 'They' suggested I give up going out to eat so much and/or seeing a
movie every week and  other silly (in my eyes) things.

I have been using Juno as my ISP
since I have been on the Internet and haven't had any problems. The
last couple of months their home page have been pushing their DSL
program and after investigating it plus asking a lot of questions I
decided to give it a try. They have 3 levels of DSL and I got the
lowest (More about that in a minute) as it was the cheapest. They
offered a 30 day deal where you could try it and IF you cancel within 28 days there won't be a charge for anything and you would be refunded your $25 modem set up. IF you accepted the DSL it would cost, including everything, $19.94 for the first 3 months and
then $26.94 a month. That final figure is $17 more a month than I have
been playing so I have to figure out where it will come from
IF I decide to keep it--now that is funny!!! You know/knew I would get hooked!

Actually when I got the modem and all the wires and I, successfully,by myself, got
it going, I was, definitely, hooked already. It didn't take five
minutes and I was a convert! I didn't have time to read the newspaper
as I went surfing or answered e-mail as everything moved too fast for
me to even get the paper opened. And then it happened!

I was able to see Eky's posting of a YouTube and I checked out Kathleen Chalfant's video "Second Guessing Grandma" without waiting an hour for it to download. Of course I was tempted to go to YouTube.com and just hit in "A Chorus Line" and there it was--video after video of the stage productions of ACL on Broadway including THE restaged version by Michael Bennett when it became the longest running show on
Broadway on September 29, 1983 and the videos I mentioned at the
beginning of this blog are from that performance--see Donna and 9 other Cassies and then Sammy Williams and 7 Pauls doing their monologue.

Now
I just have to figure out how/when to read the paper every day and
where to get the extra $17 a month?!?!?!?  Now would be a good time for
me to hit a Play 4 after missing it by 1 number 6 times this past
month! Also I find that I have to slow down my typing as I am missing
letters here and there. Now, of course, Robin, or anyone else, won't
get a busy signal when he calls if I am on the Internet. There is the
question of whether to keep the modem on all night as I always keep my
computer on 24/7 or to shut it down?

Looks like I am addicted and I haven't even had it for 24 hours--will have to exert willpower and NOT keep going to YouTube so I don't spend more time on the Internet than I did on dial up!!!  LOL

For those who care, like I do, only 6 weeks, 42 days, for Daylight Savings Time to start again!!!
