For the third Wednesday in a row Allen and I went for Far East cuisine--three weeks ago it was the upscale, mainly sushi, buffet restaurant, last week the upscale Chinese restaurant and today the good old fashioned Americanized version of Chinese food.
The restaurant has many statues, paintings, scrolls and a lot of dark woods--the only thing that was missing was the huge fish tank!
What surprised us both was that hot tea wasn't automatically served--neither was it at last week's restaurant--do Chinese restaurants not serve it anymore??
We had the typical American meal in a Chinese restaurant--Allen had Wonton soup while I had egg drop soup. For our main courses he had chicken chow mien and I had chicken egg foo young along with brown fried rice. All were served with that hot mustard I love and Allen doesn't, sweet and sour sauce and very crunchy noodles.
I have had thousand of meals like this in Chinese restaurants all over the States and they are all the same--hot, filling and forgettable. The price was right for a change--$6.95 each plus tip--one of our cheapest meals in a long time!
It's hard to have a Chinese meal without thinking of going to Chinatown in NYC and pigging out on all sorts of foods for unbelievable cheap prices--at 2 AM in the morning!!
Okay, next week we go off the Far East kick--maybe Big Louie's for Italian food as Allen has had only pizza there and I want him to have one of their main courses.
