playing the Julia Roberts role--unfortunately there is no equivalent to the Rupert Everett role which made that film such a hit.
Patrick Dempsey can play this role in his sleep as he played this type of guy in many movies when he was in his twenties BUT he is now in his forties. Yes, he has that cute 'bad boy' boyishness along with the dimples and he is a good enough actor to get all the smiles in the lines provided him and can get you to tear up a bit when required.
I found Michelle Monaghan bland in her role and really didn't see any attraction between her and Dempsey. The third part of the triangle, Kevin McKidd, is a blond, attractive hunk who adds nothing, but takes nothing away, from the picture.
All the 'best buddies'--both hers and his (Patrick's)--about 7-8 total, leave absolutely no impression and there is one in a gym setting that should have been eliminated after his first appearance.
The one making the biggest impression is Sidney Pollack, playing Patrick's much marrying father. Also, actress makes an impression--not necessarily a good one--is Kathleen Quinlan. There seems to be something 'off' about her acting and looks, almost as if she is in another movie and doesn't know what this one is all about.
The New York city scenes are full of fun and fast paced and Central park looks beautiful while the scenes in Scotland are green, shiny and dew filled.
The elimination of the basketball nerd, cutting the 'contest' between Patrick and Kevin out and eliminating the very last scene would have made the movie better paced but then it wouldn't have been 101 minutes, more like 85 minutes so filler had to be used.
There are many 'bed' scenes and, only in Hollywood, before, during and after sex no one is nude yet there is a quick shot or two of butts in the locker scenes.
All in all "Made Of Honor" is an okay movie. Dempsey's fans will be satisfied, romantic comedy fans will know what to expect and not be too disappointed. Pleasant but not in the same category of My Best Friend's Wedding, When Harry Met Sally or the other half a dozen better films this one has 'stolen' from Made of Honor is fair entertainment.
