What Goes Round Comes Round!

Richard sent me the DVD of "Every Little Step"
simply due to the fact that he knew I would love it. There was no special
occasion, no birthday, it wasn't a holiday, it was just because that is the type
of guy he is. Many years ago he sent me the script of "A Chorus Line" and I have
it on my desk.

Over the years I have been
very lucky with the friends I have--Chuck once sent me a whole rib dinner,
including Pecan pie, from Memphis and as I look around my apartment I see many
things I havereceived from people just because they thought of me when they saw
it. There was the gingerbread house Bob K. gave me, the handmade clock from
Bill, the chocolate magnet from Shirley, the cockatiel Jill surprised me
with and so on.

Years ago, when I had money, if I saw something I
thought a certain person would like I would send it to them--no more reason than
that. I have always loved treating people, surprising people with gifts or just
sending a simple card saying that I was thinking of them. I never expected
anything in return but as fate? Karma? would have it over the years I would
receive things completely unexpected.

When I started blogging I got into a conversation with a
blogger about the series "Tales of the
City". I had taped them, he hadn't seen them so I sent them to him. One time
(well, maybe more) I mentioned that I loved the Cheesecake Factory and, though I
had never met them, 2 different guys sent me gift cards for The Cheesecake
Factory. Every once in awhile I will receive a book in the mail, without notice,
from someone who knows I love to read books pertaining to show biz, particularly
biographies.

A blogger I had met recently was on a trip,
thought of me, and sent me a good luck turtle. Last year when I was going in for
the aorta valve replacement surgery another blogger sent me a 'get well' package of a
book relating to doctors, medical theories and a pass to visit a fun place after
the surgery. There was the blogger who
sent me a restaurant.com gift certificate and others who sent me tokens that
basically said I am thinking of you and I love to do the same even if it is
remembering their birthday or anniversary.

I am like a kid when it
comes to unexpected gifts. I, literally, jump for joy which really isn't a
pleasant sight to see a fat old man jumping for anything!! Over the years Gene,
not a blogger, has sent me a pillow
she made, a book about Central Park penguins, an autographed picture from
Kathleen Chalfant, an actress I admire
(and who, by the way, is now on One Life To Live and Rescue Me) just to mention
a few unexpected gifts and those gifts, like all the gifts I receive, make my
day.

I hope when I surprse someone with a gift or a card
they get the same joy I do and though we might not exchange gifts I truly
believe that they, or me, will receice that unexpected gift just due to what
goes round comes round.

Now I wonder what would
happen if I wrote that I wished someone would send me a real car?!?!?! LOL
