Though we may be poor--hey, we live in
subsidized housing--I am often surprised when I hear how many people at
one time had mansions, were wealthy and lived among the 'priviliged'.
By the same token quite a few were of the middle or upper middle class
and had lived the American dream of a house with a white picket fence,
a flower garden in the front and a vegetable garden in the back.
Whether rich or poor many had a 'green thumb', appreciated flowers,
trees, bushes and admired Mother Nature in all her forms.
The
landscaping at the Gateway residence was a joy with many variety of
flowers plus about 25 Queen Crepe Myrtle trees with their beautiful
purple flowers. There are also a variety of all sorts of flowers from
lilies to roses andcrouton bushes to various cacti.
Some
people find they have a need to work the soil, to get 'dirty' and they
staked out little plots of land in front of their apartment buildings
some making elaborate garden centers while others grow a bush of roses.
These are just a few of the gardens around the Gateway
buildings--enjoy!!
