When
a friend of mine hurts I want to hold them, cuddle them, put my arm
around their shoulder, assure them that everything will be alright, to
make their world better and, yet, most times I find myself saying and
doing nothing knowing how but not doing.
(I have another friend who recently got health news that he wasn't too happy to hear about and this applies to him, too)
A friend of mine is hurting--thankfully not health-wise--having been hit unexpectedly
financially this past week in a few instances and though it is not
making him anywhere near homeless, starving or doing without, it is
acting on him negatively. He feels nothing is going right for him,
that the world, 'fate', what have you, has turned on him.
I
know this is all temporary and things will work out and turn around for
him but while it is happening I am experiencing the pain he is feeling,
seeing it and how it is affecting him. He knows, at least I hope he
knows, that whatever I have, whatever I can do to help, is there for
the taking without his even asking. Though I know that I really don't
have anything he needs, or can use, I hope he knows that if I did it
would be his without my hesitating including part of the lottery I will win tonight!
So
here is a hug, a kiss, a cuddle, an arm around your shoulder and my
shoulder to cry on with the assurance that no matter how bad things get
(and they won't get worse) you have food to eat and a place to stay and
a friend who cares for you though he may not say it often enough!
