Little by little, without my even
being aware of it, what money I have is not stretching as much as it use
to--that hit home when I realized that I have been dipping into my "A Chorus
Line" fund. I had planned to see it 3-4 times when it came here in February but
it looks like it just might be twice if not only once. Tickets go on sale
December 12.
I had to cancel Dolores from doing my place twice a month to
once a month and I guess costs had to do with my changing my Thanksgiving plans
from previous years.
As I've mentioned we have been getting
free baked goods 4 days a week for years from Publix our local super market BUT they are
baking less to cut down costs so we aren't getting anywhere as near what we use
to. Of course food costs have sky rocketed and I am affected by that just as you
are. And farmers have stopped sending produce.
I have cut back on all my paid magazine subscriptions and cut
coupons like crazy so I can still eat out a couple of times a week and I debate
which movie to see based on which theatre charges the cheapest
prices.
Also many things have increased by a nickle to 25 cents and it
all adds up. For instance my co-pay for prescriptions has gone from $2.25 to
$2.40--15 cents may not seem like much but with 8 prescriptions plus my
tranquillizers not covered at all that's close to $60 a month on medicines. I
have been able to get my doctor to double the dosage on most so I can cut them
in half and have twice as much for the same cost.
The costs of the bird food, toys, treats and supplies has raised
up just as transportation fees have. Hopefully I will be approved for TOPS
transportation but that costs $2.50 one way and if/when I use my friend's car I
have to put gas into it and though gas is only
(LOL) $2 and change I am not using it
as much as I would like. I am very lucky to have Allen drive me around on my
errands and to many of my doctor trips.
Okay, with all my moaning and groaning
I am not starving! I have a beautiful roof over my head, friends who care and
are concerned about me and my health seems to be improving.
I don't have a mortgage or house or
car insurance to worry about let alone school supplies and clothes for kids. I
save money by not having broadband or a cell phone or other 'toys' that
some people find necessary in this world of ours today. I don't rent/buy DVDs
but then I do buy a lot of lotto tickets which I just may have
to cut back on though I did win about $600 on Play4 a couple of months ago which
allowed me to buy a TV which I needed.
It looks like I don't buy
anyone holiday gifts this year including the ones I sent token
gifts to last year unless I win another Play4 soon! Ah, but then I might be
selfish and buy another "ACL" ticket!! :O)
I know there are many in far worse
shape than I am and there will be many facing extremely rough times, especially
those with kids to raise so I think I will just count what I have and stop
complaining!
