When
did it start? When I retired? When I had congestive heart failure? Or
when I had my aorta valve replaced? Or is that just one of the things
'they' don't warn you about? I'm talking about the fact that all of a
sudden, it seems, you are going to doctors offices every 4-6 weeks and
all of a sudden, it seems, you are seeing 12 doctors!!! I decided last
year no more!! From now on I was going to the doctors only once every 6
months and this year I came to the conclusion once a year was enough
except in cases of emergencies, seeing my primary once every 4 months
and my dentist twice a year for cleanings.
In the last 6 weeks I have seen:
Dr. Vidaurre, primary Dr. Ribacoff, dentist
Dr. Hamaway, urologist Dr. Elgut , optomologist
Dr. DeCubellis, podiatrist Dr. Julian, vascular surgeon
Dr. Catinella, thoracic surgeon Dr. Singer, pulmonary
Dr. Hanft, nose, ear and throat Dr. Simon, dermatogist
Dr. Chizner, cardiologist
My last appointment was today for a 3 hour nuclear stress and only if there is something wrong I will have to go back Dr. Chizner. Also, in the last 6 weeks I had a cat scan, an ultra sound, lung x-ray and half of an open mri--I never could finish one completely!
I
will be seeing my dentist for a cleaning in November and my primary in
December for blood work and, otherwise, I have no plans to see any of
the 'specialists' until next July or if I have to go to the hospital,
which I don't have in my future plans!
I
passed all of my exams with flying colors except for a few very minor
problems but as my cardiologist, who thinks he is a comedian (and is an
excellent doctor) said at my last visit, "You are doing great right
now--I don't know what will happen when step out of the office!" but, so
far, I have been doing good since I stepped out of his office.
Here's to a/my healthy year--and yours. Just don't go to a doctor unless you have to and only you can decide that.
