Though this is primarily for Blogsters--to my knowledge the other 7 sites I post at don't have delete keys--I thought I would share this.
I
think, if I remember that far back, that I became aware that I was gay
at the age of 9. I know I started coming out at the age of 11. It took
me 8 years to become a gay activist in 1955. Being gay I put up with a
lot of garbage from nongay people who had no idea what being gay in our society meant or means. I've been called names, yelled
at, accused of all sorts of vile acts--mainly being a pedophile but if
the truth be known (and I haven't kept it a secret) I have alwayspreferred older men. And, trust me, it is not easy preferring older men when you are an old man!
I have also faced discrimination and prejudice for being a Jew and, in the 1970s, for being a Yankee when I moved to Memphis.
I have NEVER been ashamed of being gay and I have NEVER needed/wanted anyone's approval for the way I have lived my life. There are those who think I
am evil, condemned to Hell (but that could be either for being gay
and/or a Jew--hey, maybe for even being a Yankee--when people hate they
hate) while others think I hate women and those who think I have a
'lifestyle'---wish someone would explain what THAT is to me. People
have called me words I wouldn't think of using--the 'F' word, the 'Q'
word not to mention silly words like pansy.
After approximately 61
years of people trying--and failing--to put me down, make me feel bad,
thinking I am inferior I am too old at 73 to put up with that anymore
and I won't--not for me--but for the generations who are behind me,
those coming out now, who don't need to hear/read or see that crap--and
you know I don't use words like that but that is what it is. No more
folks!!
You
don't like what I post? You don't like the positive articles I put up?
You don't like my reaction when a gay person is bashed/killed/robbed,
denied a job, a place to live, the right to live with whoever they
want? You don't want to hear about gay kidscommitting suicide or dying from AIDS? You don't like my throwing being gay in your face--after I have had your being nongay thrown in my face for decades--you don't want to read my defending gays against YOUR prejudice and discrimination? THEN DON'T COMMENT ON MY BLOG!!!
Another blogger was kind enough to point out and explain the delete button on the
comments. I have said that I would never block anyone from reading
and/or commenting on my blog BUT, for those of you who have nothing else to do but save other people's blogs--I don't--feel free to go through my over 3,000 blogs and let me know where it said I wouldn't delete anti-gay comments.
I
tried deleting a few comments today--even some from friends--and it
worked and do you want to know something? I didn't feel guilty or bad
or any regret for doing it.
Remember if you are going to post ANY negative gay comments don't bother and, certainly, don't waste your time reading my blogs. By the way, feel free to delete any comments I make on your blog if you don't like them--won't hurt my feelings!!! LOL
