Denny's--a Restaurant Review

Does anyone ever review a
Denny's restaurant? I don't recall ever seeing one and yet, I am willing to bet,
that most, if not all, Americans have eaten in a Denny's restaurant at least
once.

The restaurant is mainly known for two things; their
Grand Slam and bad service. The former has expanded over the years and the
latter has gotten somewhat better but you don't go there for fast, good service
or, for that matter, good food.

Denny's caters to
breakfast eaters 24/7 though I would rather have breakfast at IHOP where they make better and fluffier
pancakes and omelets, the secret being that the latter use a blender to beat the
eggs.

Like most restaurants
today Denny's is using coupons and specials to get customers in. They have 2-4-1
breakfasts, lunches and dinners along with 3 special priced breakfast and 3
special priced lunches. We went for lunch with the 2-4-1 lunch coupon and
ordered off the regular menu. It was sort of a turkey melt which was very
mybloggers. For a change they were offering something a little different than fries
or hashbrowns . Among the choices were vegetables and dip, which I ordered and
was pleasantly surprised. I got a monkey dish of baby carrots and cucumbers
with, my choice, a small dish of blue cheese dressing for dipping.

While the service was good, with the waiter keeping
my coffee cup filled and checking back with us every time he passed by the
table,  I had to tell him to smile, to at least make believe he wanted to be
here, to make money, to wait on customers, which did get the one and only smile
out of him!

With only diners, IHOP and Denny's usually open 24/7, the
latter would always be my last choice to eat at 2-3 in the morning or, for that
matter, at any time. Though they are not expensive they are over priced for what
they serve and for the portions. Service has improved over the years but still
lack professional servers.

By the way, who has never eaten in a
Denny's?
