7 Decades of Adventures & Discoveries/life Part 5c

TIMELINE: NOTES FROM A DIARY

A
lot happened in my life from the day I joined Weight Watchers in March
1967 until the day I moved to Memphis, Tennessee, October 12, 1969. Sort
of making a long (very long) story short
the following are just some of the notes that I wrote in my diaries of 1967, 1968 and 1969.

ADVENTURES & DISCOVERIES

May 5-17   Ronnie and I went to Miami Beach on  vacation --he went back to New York on the 10th We
stayed at the Norman Shoreham while Mary May and her family stayed at
the Beachcomber--Joe and Albyn immediately noticed that I had lost a lot
of weight --on the 15th I met Herb on the benches near the 6th street
tearoom--we took a walk to the rocks then I walked him home--I would see
him again when he came to NYC

March 28 joined Weight Watchers  June 8 started work at Miller's on Wall Street    July 13 'Graduated' Weight Watchers--16th week--I had lost 75
pounds--celebrated by taking Lila and Mary to Dan Dowd's for dinner--I
had my first drink in 16 weeks and got bombed on 1 martini
July 26 went into WW to interview to be a lecturer--I started Monday   August 3-- I reached my maintenance weight of 174   I started doing classes September 14    By December I was doing 5 classes a week andworkingatMiller's

August 7  I quit working at The Brass Rail, keeping my lunch job at Miller's.

June 1 --Grace, Mary, Ronnie and I went bicycle riding in Central Park then dinner at the Pilgrim and then the Bon Soir
August 10- Joe and Albyn in town to sail on the Rotterdam   The next day Joe, Albyn, Ronnie, Helen and I went to Marchi's
August 19 Ned Brown, from WW, came over and we spent the day and night together
August 26 I met Rene Richards, (who 9 years later would go through a sex change
operation), at a party given by Sal and Ray on West 74th Street

August 31 Met Harry (This is sort of strange as I 'went' with him until December
24th when I dumped him to spend Christmas with Bernie, which is very
involved story but I have no idea now who Harry was or even what he
looked like and not a single picture!)

September 14 I had a full schedule with WW doing classes and working lunch at Miller's
(Indulge me as I do one more 'parts' regarding 1967, and going into 1968, as this post is long enough.)

While you were living your active life in NY, I was married with two kids in suburban Chicago. We saw Frank Sinatra, Johnny Mathis and Jose Feliciano. I saw Judy Garland with Liza Minelli and the nursemaid at Henrici's Restaurant when I was 10 and Liza was about 4. Movies were going through a change then.

No, but I just remembered that we saw Rex Harrison in My Fair Lady many years after the Broadway production.
