Cop Out---a Movie Review

We
really didn't have much of a choice as we had seen all of the other
movies we had wanted to see and the only two that opened this week were
"The Crazies" and "Cop Out". The former was a remake of a B horror
movie so I had no desire to see that leaving "Cop Out". BIG MISTAKE!

There
is so much wrong with this film I don't know where to start. I don't
think I have ever seen a film try so hard to be funny and fail so
miserably. I will say I did hear two-three of the movie audience (I
think there were six of us at the 5 PM showing) giggle a couple of
times but probably out of embarrassment. This type of buddy cop film
has been made so many times before that there has to be something
special added to a new one and it wasn't here. There was no chemistry
between the leads and so many plot lines having nothing to do with each
other and an ending that was certainly far fetched.

Okay,
let's get to the actors. There are a group of actors from a certain era
such as Arnohld (who made a smart move by becoming governor and getting
out of movies before he was forced out--hope he doesnt' come back!),
Stallone, Gibson--and I know I am forgetting another big name from that
time--and Willis. All have made a 'comeback' movie the past year or two
that got some interest and then went back to the has-been status.
Willis has played this role in numerous pictures and can, actually does
in this one, sleep walk doing his role. The only time he is interesting
is when you can see the disgust he can't conceal looking at his
co-star. He needs another "The Sixth Sense" or "Moonlighting" to do
what he is good at.

Regarding Tracy
Morgan--I hope he gets to the set of "30 Rock" every day and starts off
by bowing to and kissing Tina Fey's feet. He is awful. He thinks loud
is funny, vulgar is funny and contorting his face is funny---Tracy, it
ain't. Another one, almost as bad, well, just as bad, is Sean William
Scott. Want to know what the scriptwriter, and the director, think is
funny? Morgan getting kicked in the crotch by an eleven year old kid
and then the kid gets kicked in the crotch. Now isn't that falling on
the floor laughing funny? NO!

Kevin
Smith, who usually writes and directs his own films, is a gun for hire
here--I hope he took the job so he can go back to making his own films.

"Cop Out" will definitely be in my top 10 list for the worst films of 2010 and this is only February!!!
