What Do Colin Powell, Jim Carey and I Have In ...

WHAT DO COLIN POWELL, JIM CAREY AND I HAVE IN COMMON????

  • There
is an old saying, "You get what you pay for," and I proved it today.
Since I have DSL I have been having problems with typing with having to
go over my sentences all the time as they would be missing letters.
    Another blogger--sorry I don't remember who--Strider?-- suggested that
I get a new keyboard and John (who took the picture above this evening)
when he was over the other day said he couldn't see the letters on my
keyboard so I decided to get a new one today. I went to Office Depot
knowing that with my money situation I would have to go for a basic
keyboard which is alright as I never did use any of the 'bells &
whistles' on any keyboard. There was a keyboard/mouse combination for
$8.99 and since my mouse was as old as the keyboard I decided to go for
the combo. I had never heard of the 'brand' Gear Head but the manager
assured me that it was good plus I could return it if I wasn't happy
with either the keyboard and/or mouse.

  • As
soon as I got home I connected the keyboard and mouse and both worked
fine BUT the cords were half the normal length. I wasn't going to go
through the hassle of returning to Office Depot so I just moved
everything around on my desk and all is working except still having
    problems with the typing!!!

  • We
had  a beautiful, sunny and warm day today. After running my errands
Allen and I went for lunch at Smokey Bones--I had a $10 off coupon--and
then went to Office Depot. I hadn't seen Allen since Friday and it
seemed a lot longer than that. Actually, thinking about it, I,
generally, only see him twice a week!!

  •

  • As
usual I went out to the breezeway around 5 :30, for what John calls
'the meeting of the mindless', and it all of a sudden was very chilly
with the sky turning gray as if it would rain, but it didn't.

  • Ewan McGregor and Jim Carrey recently shared a kiss at a press gathering in France. Whether or not it’s to promote their new movie or not, it is indeed a sight to behold.

Colin Powell says he supports repealing DADT

Press release from HRC:
(Washington)
Today, the effort to repeal the discriminatory Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
law received a monumental boost of support from General Colin Powell.
The former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff during the 1990’s, who
supported the laws passage back in 1993, changed his position in a
statement sent out today saying, “attitudes and circumstances have
changed.”  In voicing his support for the law’s repeal, Gen. Powell
threw his full support behind the, “the new approach presented to the
Senate Armed Services Committee this week by Secretary of Defense Gates
and Admiral Mullen.”

“General
Powell has made clear that his position is about effectiveness in the
military,” said Human Rights Campaign President Joe Solmonese. “His
powerful voice for ending Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell is a tipping point in
favor of the brave men and women who are serving our nation in
silence.  The support of respected present and former military leaders
brings us closer to repeal, signaling that we’re moving forward and
will get there soon.  Opposing repeal now means second-guessing some of
our nation’s top military leaders, including the Joint Chiefs chairman
who opposed open service in the 1990’s when Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell
became law.”

Solmonese continued,  “I want to ask the senators and
members who are speaking out against this repeal—what do you know about
military effectiveness that General Powell, Secretary Gates, Admiral
Mullen and the Commander in Chief don’t know?  The truth is that there
are no more excuses, the death knell for Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell has been
rung and now is the moment to send this law into the history books
where it belongs.”

Did
a little juggling of the inside and outside plants and all are looking
good!! Back to my short corded mouse and keyboard!  LOL
