
Though M-G-M
didn't want Lena Horne to play the role of Julie in the movie version
of "Showboat" they did want her to dub Ava Gardner's singing voice--they made two mistakes as Lena
would have been perfect for the role and even if Ava did a super job,
acting the role which she did, this tape shows that she could have done
her own singing--the ways of Hollywood! LOL
Ava Lavinia Gardner (December 24, 1922 – January 25, 1990) was

She was signed to a contract by MGM Studios in 1941 and appeared in small roles
until she drew attention with her performance in The

Crossing (1976). Gardner continued to act on a regular basis

four years before her death of pneumonia, at age 67,
in 1990.
