The Cheesecake Factory--review

I have been coming to this The Cheesecake Factory for 16 years but not as often as I use to for many reasons though not any negativity due to the restaurant. I am just not a fan of Las Olas.

In any case, it has been awhile since my last visit here so it was good to see the host Edgar greeting us as if we had been there yesterday. He is a great guy and has been there since they opened.

Okay, the prices have gone up a bit and one of the dishes wasn't particularly good but the service was excellent with one minor blip, though it wasn't Shawnice's fault, as it seems there was a 5-minute wait for the *dark bread! :O)

Allen and I decided to split the Chicken Riesling with pasta ($14.50) and Truffle Honey Chicken with mashed potatoes ($16.95) and though the former was excellent the same couldn't be said about the latter as it was tasteless. (Was that really red cabbage in the potatoes made to look like bacon?) Without any question, Shawnice gave us two extra plates for the sharing process.

We then shared a slice of the Godiva Cheesecake ($8.50) and the Hershey Cheesecake ($8.50) with the former an easy winner. We also had a scoop of ice cream ($1.40) while Allen had his soda--okay, a diet coke--makes sense to me ($3.25) and I had coffee($3.25) so with tax and tip the check came to $71.74 but I had a $25 gift card so that brought it down to $46.74, a bit high for lunch but, as always, a pleasant lunch in a chain restaurant!

* Someone, whether manager or chef, wasn't doing their job in the kitchen.

Comments:

Mr. YouKnow used to get comped at the Venetian in Las Vegas including free meals at The Cheesecake Factory there. If not for that, we never would have gone.
