Charlie St. Cloud--a Movie Review

Does
Charlie see live people who are dead or dead people who are alive or
are both? Does it really matter? People who come to see Charlie come to
see Zac Efron,
preferably shirtless, and he accommodates his audience a few times but
spending money and an hour and forty minutes to see his bare chest isn't
worth it in my opinion.

Zac is sort of a young Rob Lowe--the latter wouldn't want to hear that--and
he can spend a few years playing the teen idol of young girls (though
the women in the audience today were more the grandmother type!) but if
he wants to last, to have a career, he is going to have to tackle
heavier roles. Ironically, and I don't know how old he really is, in
this movie he is suppose to be 22-23 and looks 18 and  too young to
carry the weight of the role.

Charlie
falls in love with Tess, Charlie loses Tess, Charlie finds Tess and
Charlie stops playing ball with his dead brother Sam. Strange things
happen which only make this a strange movie, not a good one. Zac's tear ducts are put to work overtime but not the audiences.

Obviously Zac Efron is the one who is the draw in this picture though for all I know Amanda
Crew, playing Tess, who I am not familiar with, might have a following
as does the possibility of Donal Logue who plays a hard nosed coach  having a fan base. At one time Kim Bassinger and Ray Liotta were 'names' but I don't think either will bring in one person into the
theatre and if they do that one person will be disappointed as both
spend less than 5 minutes on screen.

There is beautiful scenery---no, not Zac--as
the film takes place on the west coast of Vancouver, British Columbia,
along the ocean, mountains with light houses and crashing waves plus
lush and green forests.

The bottom line? Save your money and go to Vancouver, meanwhile google Zac Efron and look at his images--won't take 1 hour and 40 minutes or cost you a penny.
