Looks like I found a home for Daniel and Alex. I was taking a
poster into the office to ask if I could pin it up on the bulletin board
when Alicia, the receptionist, said her brother, who is a bird owner
would love the tiels and, maybe the budgie. He has a male budgie who is
very aggressive and he doesn't know if it would be wise to bring in
another male. At the same time one of the maintenance men said he would
like the budgie and he would let me know tomorrow. At 5 PM I will bring
down the birds, the cage and ALL the accessories for Alicia to take
home.As Jill isn't charging anything they are getting a real good deal
and we are happy that they are going to someone who already has birds!
I think the biggest nuisance in technology is the cell phone. You
go to a movie or concert and all you see are distracting blue screens
popping up all over. Allen and I went to a chic restaurant and the guy
next to us was talking loud on his cell phone. Why do people think they
have to talk louder and/or shout on a cell phone? Count the next 10 cars
you pass, if you aren't busy on the phone while you are driving, and I
bet they are on the phone oblivious to the traffic around them. The
majority, yes the majority, of cell phone users are rude. No one is that
important that they have to use them in a social setting.
I remember when they first came out if they were seen in schools
you knew they were the drug dealers and now, it seems, every kid has
one. Why does an 8 year old need a cell phone in school? So parents can
keep in touch? They shouldn't bother the kid while he/she is in school!
In case of an emergency? That's what teachers and principals are for.
They handled emergencies very well in the past and still can/do. And as
been proven most kids don't answer when their parents call!! "I had it
turned off."
Now I am not saying that cell phones can't be/aren't useful in
case a car breaks down and at work you don't have to have an assistant
make a all for you but I do not see any reason to use a cell phone in
public and/or social setting. It is NOT a generational thing--heck just
come here to Gateway where everyone is over 70 and at least 95% have
one. And, yes, I have one but the only reason I would use it would be
for 911 calls!! I have over 500 free minutes and still haven't used it.
And a 911 call
is not being in aisle 6 of a grocery store and phoning your partner in
aisle 8 to tell them to pick up a jar of sauce--I actually heard that
happen.
I
have always hated phones and all my friends know if you call me give me
the message and get off--no chit chat! I have not made a long distance
call in over 20 years and, maybe, make 5-6 local calls a month if that
many.

Talk about a 'generation' thing--Bill said both he and Hillary
are too old to be appointed to the Supreme Court, that they are doers
and Obama should appoint someone in their 40s or early 50s. Whoever
thought Bill and Hillary would be 'too old' so fast!
