Catfish Dewey's--a Restaurant Review

I have been going to Catfish Dewey's now for 25
years and it just keeps getting better. 7 days a week they have all the fried
catfish--fillet or whole--you can eat
($14.95). On Mondays and Tuesdays it is all the shrimp ($16.95)--and not the
tiny kind--fried or boiled--and clam strips while on Wednesdays it is baby back
ribs ($16.95) Thursdays and Sundays  you can eat all the Alaskan Snow crab legs
you want ($24.95) while on Friday it is all the fried scallops ($16.95) and when
they are in season all you can eat stone crabs with the price subject to market
conditions!

When you walk into Catfish Dewey's it is like being
at the Shelby Motel in a suburb of Memphis, Tennessee! It's country and western
time, 'redneck'--in a nice way--territory but if you read "Catfish Dewey's house
rules for all you can eat dinners" you know you are in the world of 'earlybirds'
and South Florida.

Aside from the all you can eat specials the
restaurant has an extensive menu from soups to
appetizers and dessert. There are a couple of steak courses plus chicken dishes
for landlubbers.

All meals are served with hush puppies, choice of
cole slaw or salad and a choice of baked potato, sweet potato or fries. I have never
have had anything that was less than excellent at Catfish Dewey's except for an
orange Popsicle cake which I had for the first
time last night and found disappointing.

We started off with stuffed jalapeno peppers then
Gino and I had baby back ribs and Gino added fillet catfish along with his order while John had
grilled shrimp and Allen had grilled sea scallops.

We ended up with two pieces of tart key lime pie and
one piece of that orange Popsicle cake with
only the latter being disappointing.

The service, as it
generally is, was right as it should be, keeping the drinks (iced tea and water)
filled at all times and the all you can eat items coming when we got half
finished with what was on our plates.

Another thing I that liked is that on the bottom of
the check they tell you what a 15%, 20% and 25% tip would come to.

For 25 years Catfish Dewey's has been a place that I
always take out of towners to and frequent myself all
year round--I love those shrimp and baby back ribs.
